Police investigating series of mobile phone thefts in Cambridge |
||
|
Dear Resident, We are urging phone owners to be vigilant following a spate of mobile phone thefts. The incidents involved people dressed in black clothing with face coverings riding e-bikes and e-scooters and took place in Newmarket Road, Trumpington Road, Jesus Lane, Parker’s Piece, Midsummer Common, near Cambridge North Station, Emmanuel Street and Christ’s Pieces between Saturday and yesterday (11 November). We understand these incidents are concerning for the community. An investigation is ongoing along with high visible and plain clothed patrols of the areas. We urge anyone who witnesses and suspicious behaviour or has information to contact is immediately. iPhone users are urged to consider disabling the iPhone control centre on the locked screen in their settings to prevent thieves being able to put the phone in ‘aeroplane’ mode when the phone is locked. Where possible, also keep your phone out of sight when not in use and be cautious when using your phone in public. Store your phone in a zipped bag or pocket and keep them close to you. If you see individuals acting suspiciously or riding mopeds/ebikes/escooters in a manner that concerns you, call 101, or 999 in an emergency. Kind Regards, Inspector Shawn Emms | ||
